Toni's Blog

I just wanted to check with all you readers.  It is still the second month of the year right?  Beause it seems that everywhere I go, I see people wearing tank tops, sleeveless shirts and shorts.  Now I know we've had unseasonably warm temperatures lately, being around 33 degrees for the past few days.  We've probably set records, but I'll leave that determination up to Tom Messner.  I know there is barely any snow on the ground outside.  But come on, it's still February, and we still live above the North Pole.  (Hehe, technically we do!)

I travelled to the mall today to meet a friend and her son.  Upon arriving, I proceeded to disrobe my son and my daughter of their puffy parkas.  I then began to take off my layers of clothing, which included a giant wool scarf and a pea coat.  My friend's son was also well dressed for cold weather.  We had just sat down to eat our Burger King, when lo and behold, a woman, who had to be in her early 20's, walks past us wearing a spaghetti strapped tank top.  Come on lady!  It's cold and you need a shirt. But she must come from the land where it is okay to wear a sleeveless bridesmaid dress during winter months.  If you are getting married between October and April, you need to put a sleeve on it!  No amount of shawl will make that OK.

I also seem to encounter men in their 40's who are trying to relive their college days when they ONLY had shorts to wear because they hadn't done their laundry.  It is just so inappropriate for February.  Face it, college is over and you have access to a washing machine, a wife/partner or a maid.  Wear some pants and save your shorts for summer.

Caveat for the readers:  I will not let either of my children wear sleeveless clothing.  Char got a lot of cute outfits when she was born that had sleeveless parts to them.  I thanked the givers and immediately went to the store to purchase short and long-sleeved onesies to "complete" the outfits.  It also allows me to extend the life of the clothing.  She can easily have a summer outfit still work for her in the winter with the addition of the onesie and tights.  Plus, she's gorgeous!  This outfit was given to us by a friend, Alyssa.  it was the sleeveless white top with cute little navy blue panties things.  Add long sleeve onesie and tights and we've got winter outfit.
